Why not just have USB host ESXi and put the datastore on local disk? Problem solved. Checking that link of yours shows just how difficult it is to get a USB drive working in ESXi and it's not officially supported so why are you so reluctant to use a hard drive? sege5641 wrote:

Apr 08, 2008 · I've installed a copy of VMWare Workstation 3.0 on a box running Win2kPro. (Yes, I know, it's an old version of VM ware; I've had it for a while, obviously, but this is the first chance I've had to install it). The installation 'seemed' to go all right, but when I start the virtual machine, it will not recognize keyboard inputs.

Also with the Apple Wireless Keyboard (Bluetooth), after the external keyboard is detected, you cannot use the Horizon Client Tools or three-finger tap to display the onscreen keyboard. You must first deactivate the external keyboard by pressing its Eject key.
To use the enhanced virtual keyboard feature in a virtual machine, you must install the enhanced keyboard driver on the Windows host system. If you did not install the enhanced keyboard driver when you initially installed or upgraded Workstation, you can install it by running the Workstation installer in program maintenance mode.
I have a production VMware environment and a "DR" VMware enviroment. They are located in separate datacenters, however, my DR site is not something I actually want to test if push came to shove, because, its all of our old server with outdated data on them. Please don't tell me how useless that is, I am aware.

I tried everything to get the keyboard to work (different drivers, different versions of VMware tools, the VMware keyboard kb article, etc.) and I could not get nothing to work.
